Welcome to In His Hands podcast from women for women. We're here to help you find peace in knowing you are in God's hands. Our goal is sharing the Word of God in simple conversations. You're here to help you thrive every day. And now here are your hosts.

Tiffany:

Mary, I want you to talk about how In His Hands started. There's many different layers and we each have perspective on this, but in my mind you started this.

Mary:

Well, I love that idea, but I think it's an idea that was planted first by the Lord. We are women of a certain age and police in our lives, where we may or may not have a partner and we live our own lives and we have our own jobs, but yet we need a community of like-minded, wise women. I saw a gap in I don't know society where we might not be valued and honored for all that. We've gone through, all that. We know, all that we can offer. And there's a old story about women in Europe after World War I that their husbands went to war and they were left at home and they needed to provide for themselves and help each other and be their own community. And this reminds me of that, that we're in a war right now, and the Lord you know it's no surprise. The Lord tells us that we are and that we have more power in numbers.

Tiffany:

So we sat at your dining room table and there were three of us in that conversation and from the very beginning, you called this in God's hands. This is in God's hands, and that's. We started taking notes and we were talking about one of our friends who wanted to write a book and we were chatting and as I was listening to the conversation going on, it was so clear to me that it would very easily translate into a podcast. When I then started doing some research on other Christian women's podcasts because I know you said that you had listened to a lot and I had not, but I wanted to see what was out there and what I found is there are some beautiful podcasts from beautiful women and I haven't yet found and I haven't really been digging real deep, but I haven't found anything. That is the kind of conversations that we have, which is women to women, and on our website we talk about from women for women, and that's very important to us and just conversations.

Tiffany:

You and I have known each other for several years now and there's so much healing that's taken place in just our everyday conversations, where either we're talking out in the driveway or we get together for a purpose, we get together to pray and we hope that this resonates with others as much as it's resonated with us about women chatting and giving support and praying with each other and over each other. One of the notes that I made that was important to me about in his hands is we're here to help you thrive. Thrive, I think, can be a very challenging word for a lot of people because it's like they can't get there. How can I thrive? I can't even get through today. So that was something that was just very important for me to set as our focus and the vision because we can, as a community of women who are helping other women and chatting with other women, we know that you can find peace in knowing that you are in God's hands, and most times it takes us reminding each other. Agreed.

Tiffany:

What do you see that you would like? What feedback would you like from the community? We're just starting out. When I looked at some of the podcasts yesterday they were, they were on episode 462. And here we are, episode one. So what else would you like to put out as a message for how we would like to invite others to join in our community?

Mary:

Finding those tools that work for you and that toolbox needs to be pretty big because not every tool works for every situation how we can honor each other through the hard things that we've been through and I love how we're safely in God's hands, but he's also sifted a lot of the difficult things we're going through through his hand, which means he has a purpose and a plan, and sometimes it's hard for us to see what that is because we're like nose to nose with it and we need that perspective and I sure hope this is a place where we can find some perspective and help and hope and healing. I know I have with our relationship. Your perspective has really helped me get out of the little box I put myself in.

Tiffany:

We can do that, so, so easily. What I'm hoping for that, and we say this on the website in every moment. You have the choice to invite God into your life. I feel the time is now, and I call myself a newbie. I've been a Christian since 2000, but in 2019, 2020, I joined a local church that was open through the lockdown and found a renewed faith. That was very strong for me and definitely has brought me much stronger in wanting to understand how I invite God into my life every day and every moment.

Tiffany:

I had never listened to worship music before. You see me swaying back and forth at church to worship music. I love it, and one of the things that I did bring into the website is I also like to write. You like to write. We want to invite others to write Just quick stories about how God appears in their life, and one of the things that I knew was really important to me as I write which I had not done in the past was to offer ideas for worship music that go along with the theme for a particular story, and I have loved that experience because I will sit here and all day listen to worship music and understand more of how it affects my thinking, how it supports me and how it guides me, and it's pretty cool I'm pretty excited about that that's a beautiful thing and the Lord tells us to come to Him with childlike faith.

Mary:

So I feel like you're doing that, where everything is fresh and new and you, you have this trust that you know he will meet you where you are. My experience is a little different. I was raised Catholic, so it was an obligation. It felt like an obligation and I know Jesus is present in the Catholic Church, but I did not find Him there. I found Him in a women's Bible study when my middle daughter was very young, and so it's been about 20 years now and I've had to deconstruct and reconstruct and then deconstruct some more. So it's really good for me to see how you walk through every day, because I need more of that, not jaded kind of church experience, but a more fresh, fresh eyes and a fresh faith.

Tiffany:

Well, and you talk about, you know church experience and jaded and in 2020, when I started going to church, it was perfect for the time, but it ended up leaving that church and actually stayed away for many months and then just recently found a church locally that really speaks to me, and so I am so grateful for that experience. I don't know where the path will lead with this church, but I'm truly enjoying everything about the messages and the people, and I will see how I grow in community there.

Mary:

And that's wonderful, I'm. It thought occurred to me about how some churches are for families with young kids. Some churches feel like recovery churches, and back to what we talked about women, where we are in our phase in life or age and phase, and you know we need something else from church and and possibly that's what we're here to create in our local communities as well.

Tiffany:

I had the calling recently to actually leave the job that I am working in because I am definitely being called to focus my time more on God's work. So it's going to be an interesting journey. I call it retirement. I don't know what that means because I've never done that and I know I'm not going to retire quietly. But I know that I need to shift my focus and most of my corporate work has not been focused on God. I'm definitely using that a lot more in the job that I'll be leaving to pray through every day that I had never done before in my 40 plus years in corporate work. So I'm very excited to see where that leads me. And having that trust, finding peace, knowing that I'm in God's hands, is so comforting, so so comforting. It makes it so much easier to make decisions.

Mary:

I hope you can teach us all how to do that, because that sounds like something I want.

Tiffany:

I am so excited though we're on episode number one. I can't wait until we get to the point to say we're at episode 100 and 500 and we say do you remember this day where we sat down and just briefly talked about how all of this started and I'm so grateful to be on this journey with you and knowing all of the other women that are going to be joining us in this community is I'm very excited about that.

Mary:

That's so wonderful. I'm just going to pray over as Lord for everyone listening. Father, god, we just extend your hand over them. We ask that you help our listeners know there's no place to go but into God's hands and they are safe, and that you have a place for us all and that you invite us in and you're asking us to say yes. And so thank you for Tiffany and her bold and brave faith. And, lord, we're looking forward to all the tools you will teach us and community will bring. In Jesus' name. We pray Amen. Amen.
